Own the Room in 2023: All About Our Signature Communication Coaching Workshop

It’s no secret that the communication landscape has changed drastically in the last few years.

Back in 2020, we all had to figure out our new normal when it came to communication – which mostly involved online platforms. Whether it was phone calls, video calls or emails – it became clear that our days of communicating with others in person were behind us for the foreseeable future. We had to adjust.

After all, there’s a different energy communicating over Zoom compared to face-to-face communication. I don’t know about you, everything felt different and disconnected.

Fast forward to 2023 and things are looking hopeful again. Social and business gatherings are becoming more of a reality and presentations can be held in-person. As a Communication Coach, I’ve found that there are a lot of differences when it comes to in-person communication vs. video communication, and there are also some similarities.

If we’ve learned anything over the last three years – it would be that it’s crucial to adapt. Why Invest in a Communication Coach?

I mentioned earlier that we’ve seen a lot of changes over the last few years when it comes to the way we communicate with each other. Jobs that were once full-time at the office were shifted to a completely virtual setting, where teams and managers had to adjust to a new normal and figure out a way to get the same results without in-person communication and connection.

Although things are moving more towards in-person gatherings once again, it’s still up in the air as to what things will look like for the rest of 2023. It might be that we’re constantly switching back and forth between in-person and virtual communication – making it essential to be effective at both. A hybrid environment, working from home and the office, offering more flexibility and new communication challenges.

Because of all of the changes we’re seeing, it’s never been a better time to invest in a communication coach. It can be nerve-wracking to not know how to effectively communicate in a given space. There are certain techniques and skills that are critical to master to give effective virtual presentations. And there are also key strategies and methodologies that go into delivering an effective in-person presentation (something that many of us are out of practice at).

With all of the changes and uncertainty that the future holds, the tools that are taught in our signature coaching program, Encore, can withstand any communication environment.

What Is Encore Communication Coaching?

Encore Communication Coaching is a six-session workshop held over three weeks that expedites your communication and public speaking skills.

Encore is held in a group setting with as few as four or as many as six people. We keep the class sizes small in order to provide the most one-on-one coaching value. The classes are a mix of self-reflection exercises, communication theory, practical experience, and personalized coaching and feedback.

By the end of the sessions, you’ll have prepared and presented a 6-8 minute speech in front of your peers and coaches, and will get to keep a recording of your personalized presentation feedback. After completing the Encore program, you’ll be able to apply all that you’ve learned (aka the step-by-step process to develop a successful presentation that drives the audience to do what you want them to) to any future communication.

Who Is Encore For?

Encore is for anyone that wants to own the room, make more sales, feel more confident, speak more eloquently, or who feels stuck in their communication with others.

Communication without connection gets lost in translation every time. The Encore methodology involves my signature tool (developed out of years in the public speaking and communication industries) called The Power To Connect. This tool helps you break down a communication situation into bite-size pieces, and allows you to take an audience-first approach so you can better connect with whoever you’re speaking to. In a nutshell, it helps you think through your communication and prepare in a way you’ve never prepared before.

The Encore Workshop itself gets to the root of who you are as a communicator through a series of fun and practical exercises, and helps you narrow down the parts of yourself that make you a great communicator.

Ultimately, Encore is for the person who’s ready to start seeing real results from their presentations and/or interactions.

What’s the Time Commitment?

Encore takes place every Monday and Tuesday for two hours each day, over three weeks. So, the coaching time will be approximately 12 hours in total.

In order to best prepare for each session, there will be some work required outside of these days as well. For example, before coming to your first session, it’s best to have an idea of what you’ll want your 6-8 minute presentation to be about. There will also be some worksheets to complete in-between sessions including the writing and preparing of your presentation.

In general, you can anticipate needing to spend a couple of extra hours each week outside of the scheduled sessions. With that said, Encore was designed to be woven into your life, so whatever that looks like can always be accommodated.

What Else Do I Get Along With the Sessions?

Glad you asked! Not only do you get 7 in-depth sessions filled with rich discussion and personalized coaching – you also get access to seven bonuses to accompany your learning.

1. An 8-minute meditation track

At the beginning of each Encore session, I always like to start with a meditation to get everyone in the group centered and ready to bring their best selves to the class. This unique bonus meditation can be used in-between your sessions to help improve your focus, get you centred and feeling more grateful for the present moment.

2. Hierarchy of Business

One of the biggest issues facing all businesses is commoditization. To move away from commoditization means becoming a problem and solution expert as opposed to a product and service expert. Using the Hierarchy of Business worksheet, you’ll be able to focus on the problem you solve (whether it’s in your own business or company) which will enable you to enter a competition free zone. 

3. Intriguing Intros Handout

Have you ever wondered what goes into a successful presentation introduction? Not only will we cover this topic in Encore, you’ll also receive even more info in a printable PDF format to enhance your learning.

4. The Credibility Factor Handout

This worksheet provides all the relevant questions to ask in order to gather effective testimonials from your clients or customers. If you’re not a business owner, this worksheet can also help gather key information about your own personal brand.

5. A Recording of Your Presentation and Teresa’s Feedback

What’s better than receiving personalized coaching? Getting to re-watch it of course. After your final Encore session, you’ll receive a recording of your speech along with Teresa’s feedback that you can apply to any future presentation.

6. Encore Certificate of Completion

At the end of Encore, you’ll receive a certificate deeming you an Encore Certified Communicator, which means you'll have the confidence to say that you’ve had formal public speaking training.
